Fios Genomics (“we” “us” or “our”) are committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This policy sets out the basis on which any personal data we collect from you, or that you provide to us will be used and processed by us.  Please read the following to understand our practices regarding your personal data and how we will treat it.  By navigating our website (https://www.fiosgenomics.com/), submitting your CV or by providing personal data to us through other means, you are accepting and consenting to the practices described in this policy. 

Collection and Processing of Your Personal Information 

How We Collect Your Information 

We collect your information when you correspond with us by telephone, e-mail, networking events, business meetings, or through such social media outlets such as LinkedIn and Twitter as well as through any forms completed on our website.

We will only process personal data on you should this have been collected through interactions above or on the grounds of legitimate interest. 

What Information We Collect About You 

Fios will generally collect and process: 

  • First and last names
  • Job title, 
  • Company,   
  • Place of Work,   
  • Contact information 
  • Usage data  

If you submit your CV to us we will also collect the details you submit on that document, including (but not limited to) home address, date of birth, education record, career history, publications, personal / business references, and the professional memberships that you have. Your salary and benefit information may also be collected and processed should you apply for a position. 

Excluding the information you provide via a CV, the majority of information we will collect and process would be available in the public domain.  We do not collect personally sensitive data i.e. that relating to an individual’s racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, trade union activities, physical or mental health, sexual orientation or details of criminal offences (unless you have any of this on your CV). Please note any personal information within emails would also be considered as “processed” under the GDPR regulations. 

Usage Data 

Usage Data is collected automatically when using our website. 

Usage Data may include information such as your device’s Internet Protocol address (e.g. IP address), browser type, browser version, the pages of our website that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data. 

When you access the website by or through a mobile device, we may collect certain information automatically, including, but not limited to, the type of mobile device you use, your mobile device unique ID, the IP address of your mobile device, your mobile operating system, the type of mobile Internet browser you use, and other diagnostic data.  

We may also collect information that your browser sends whenever you visit our website or when you access the website by or through a mobile device. 

Tracking Technologies and Cookies 

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to track the activity on our website and store certain information. Whenever you provide consent, cookies and similar technologies are used to, among other things, show you advertisements and other relevant information about topics of interest to you. We use cookies in a range of ways to improve your experience on our website, including:

How We Use and Process Your Information 

Processing of data is defined such as collection, recording, organisation, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or otherwise making available, alignment or combination, restriction, erasure or destruction. 

We will use and process your data only in relation to the purpose for which it was collected and it will not be passed to 3rd parties. 

Where you have submitted your CV and/or applied for a job we will use that information to assess your suitability for current or future roles.  If you are a current or former client or contact of Fios Genomics we use your personal details to provide certain information to you including marketing at both an individual’s request and at our instigation where we believe the information will be of real value to you. We will also use your personal information for a range of other activities which may include sending you invitations to meet us at networking events, exhibitions, seminars where appropriate and to contact you to ask questions as part of any surveys we may be conducting. 

Personalised Advertising

When you visit our website and provided that you give consent, cookies and similar technologies will be used for purposes such as personalised advertising.

Our website uses advertising services like Google Ads and analytics tools like Google Analytics, and provided that you give consent, Google will use the information shared by our site (this includes the URL of the page you’re visiting and your IP address) for purposes such as:

  •  delivering their services, maintaining and improving them, developing new services,
  • measuring the effectiveness of advertising,
  • protecting against fraud and abuse
  • personalising content and ads you see on Google and on their partners’ sites

Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and reports website traffic. We use Google Analytics data for analytics and measurement to understand how our website is used. Google uses the data collected to track and monitor the use of our website. This data is shared with other Google services. Google may use the collected data to contextualise and personalise the ads of its own advertising network.

Google Ads

Google Ads is provided by Google Inc.
We use remarketing ads, provided by Google. For example, you could be shown an ad for a product that you have previously viewed on our website. We use Google Ads Remarketing to advertise Fios Genomics across the Internet, in particular on the Google Display Network. Google Ads Remarketing allows us to tailor our marketing to better suit your needs and only display ads that are relevant to you.

For this purpose, the interaction of users on our website is analysed, e.g. which pages of the website the user was interested in, in order to be able to display targeted advertising to users even after visiting our website on other pages. To do this, Google stores cookies in your browser to record your visit and, provided that you give consent, AdWords remarketing will then display ads to you based on what pages of Fios Genomics website you have viewed. This cookie does not in any way identify you or give access to your computer or mobile device. The cookie is used to indicate to other websites that  ‘This person visited a particular  page, so show them ads relating to that page.‘ You can use Ads Settings to manage the Google ads you see and opt-out of Ads Personalisation. Or you can manage cookies in your web browser.

Where We Store Your Personal Data 

The data that we collect from you will be stored at locations within the European Economic Area (“EEA”). Data may be processed by Fios Genomics employees internationally. 

Your Information and Your Rights 

You have the following rights:

  • To ask for a copy of the information we hold about you 
  • To have your information rectified 
  • To ask us to restrict processing of your personal data 
  • To request to have your information erased (Right to be forgotten)

  • To have information you provided to us, returned to you, or sent directly to another company in a structured and commonly used and machine readable format where technically feasible (Data Portability)

Data Retention 

In line with GDPR requirements we shall retain an individual’s data for no longer than is necessary for the purposes for which it is being processed.  Our data retention policy is available on request from info@fiosgenomics.com. 

Other Sites and Social Media 

If you follow a link from our website to another site this Privacy Policy will no longer apply.  We are not responsible for the information handling practices of third party sites or services. 

Security of Your Personal Information 

We take the security of your personal information very seriously and operate under a clear and rigorous internal IT security policy.  All personal data is held on our restricted access secure servers or on a Contact Relationship Management system (Hubspot) which according to a recent Privacy Policy update now adheres to the new requirements under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). 

Our Philosophy on Data Protection 

  • Our CEO is also our appointed Data Protection Officer to ensure data privacy and security are taken seriously across the whole business and on a continuous basis 
  • Everyone handling personal information understands that they are responsible for following best data protection practice, and has been appropriately trained to do so and is appropriately supervised 
  • Individuals requests will be promptly dealt with 
  • We have regular reviews of the way we collect, use and process personal data and will constantly look to uphold the highest standards to protect the rights and freedoms of the individuals whose data we collect, use and process 
  • Any breach of personal data will be immediately reported to the ICO and data subjects where necessary 

Changes to Our Privacy Policy 

Any changes we may make to our privacy policy in the future will be posted on this page and, where appropriate, notified to you by e-mail.
