Dr Paul McAdamHead of Next Generation Sequencing
Paul joined the Fios team in 2015 as a bioinformatician, and is now Head of Next Generation Sequencing. In this role he manages a team of analysts with a wide range of academic backgrounds. The work in Paul’s team covers analysis of all omics types from a range of organisms and experimental designs.
Paul completed an MA in Medicine at University of Cambridge followed by a MRes in Computational Biology at University of York. As part of his masters, he spent time at University of California, San Diego working on computational methods for vaccine design. Following this, Paul completed his PhD at the Roslin Institute in Edinburgh; applying molecular epidemiology methodologies to understand pathogen evolution and infectious disease outbreaks. His postdoctoral research focused on the statistical and phylogenetic analysis of bacterial populations and led to 13 publications in top tier scientific journals.
