Prof. Alistair StrachanInvestor Director
Prof Alistair Strachan graduated BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry and PhD in Biochemistry and Immunology from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow and later, BBA (Hons) and MBA from the University of Stellenbosch Graduate School of Business, Cape Town.
He commenced his career in medical research at the bench but transitioned into the management of research, notably in launching and managing the Action TB partnership between the South African Medical Research Council, Glaxo Welcome and an international academic network. He subsequently joined the pharmaceutical industry where he held senior executive positions over a 30-year period, in South Africa, the USA and the UK. His roles included COO of Capricorn Pharma Inc, Head of Operations of the Neurology & GI Centre of Excellence for Drug Discovery at GSK, Head of Operations for the US based global Discovery organization & VP and Head of Licensing and Business Development EMEA region with Wyeth and latterly, Head of Operations, Global Biotherapeutic Technologies, Pfizer.
Alistair has served on the board of the National Association of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers (USA), Life Sciences Industry Advisory Board of the Scottish Government and on the Country Co-ordinating Council of the Pfizer (UK) Board. In 2012 he was made an Honorary Professor by the University of Aberdeen. Since retiring from the pharma industry he has been involved with several emerging biotech companies and is currently Non-Executive Director at Fios Genomics, representing the Archangels Investment syndicate.
